Everyone was surprised when the new “Jersey Shore” actor Vinny (“Vinny 2.0”) Tortorella proposed to Angelina. The couple had not been dating for a long time, and no one expected this so early in their relationship. The engagement happened during a birthday dinner for another star on “Jersey Shore.”
During the dinner party, Vinny gave a prepared speech about being welcomed into the group and proposed a toast. Little did Angelina know that he was going to propose to her.
Not long into the speech, Vinny started to talk about Angelina and his love for her. He said she’s his best friend and told her he’ll always have her back, ending the address by hoping they will grow old together. He then asked her to marry him, to which her answer was “100 times over, yes”.
Ironically, Angelina had a divorce party the previous night, toasting the end of her first marriage. She said that if someone had told her that she would be having a divorce party one night and the next her engagement party, she wouldn’t believe it.
How Did They Meet?
The proposal came only after a month of the couple officially dating. Vinny proposed to Angelina in November 2022, but they met during the introduction of Vinny Tortorella in Episode 11 of the “Jersey Shore.” Although they dated relatively briefly, Angelina confessed they had known each other months before. They met on Instagram first before meeting in person on the reality TV show.
The reason for the nickname Vinny 2.0 is there’s another star on the show named Vinny, whom Angelina had been flirting with for months during the show. But in September 2022, she admitted to dating another Vinny, referring to her future husband.
The most significant controversy of this proposal, and the reason everyone was so surprised, is Angelina’s previous marriage. Angelina was previously married to Chris Larangeira. They began their relationship in 2016 and got engaged in January 2018. In November 2019, they got married, but the marriage didn’t last, ending only a year later. Their divorce was finalized in the summer of 2022, and soon after, she met Vinny.
How Did Social Media React?
Because Angelina got engaged so quickly after her divorce, the comments she received from fans and followers were both positive and negative. After the engagement, Angelina shared the happy news on Twitter with a simple message, “Ohhhh yes, guys,” and a bunch of engagement or diamond ring emojis.
Some comments were full of best wishes and congratulations, saying she deserves a guy like Vinny, that they should be happy together, and so on. But others were critical, mainly commenting about her first failed marriage with messages like “Here we go again.” Even some of her co-stars were confused and concerned because of her quick engagement.
Let’s Hear More About the Ring
The 36-year-old got proposed to with a stunning emerald cut diamond engagement ring. It’s not surprising Angelina received this diamond ring as emerald cuts are very popular with celebrities. The emerald cut is in an elongated rectangular shape with cropped corners. Corners are usually trimmed for this cut to prevent fractures and add stability to the stone.
Sometimes, the emerald cut can also be square-shaped rather than the traditional rectangle. This diamond cut offers incredible colored and white light reflections. While an emerald cut and the oval cut make the diamond appear more prominent, the emerald cut looks even bigger than other diamond shapes of the same carat weight.
Dimensions like length and depth-to-width relations will affect how much light the diamond will reflect and how it looks. The depth of emerald cuts must be under 74% to give an emerald cut diamond ring to fully highlight the center stone’s beauty.
Clarity on this cut will show the slightest imperfections and the same goes with color. Because the top surface of the emerald cut diamond is clear like a window, any imperfection or inclusion in the middle of the stone will be visible. The large surface (“the table”) and step cuts are more reflective than any other diamond shape, and the natural color of the stone will be more visible.
Both the pavilion and crown are shallow with this cut, highlighting the stone’s clarity but will show even the slightest imperfection or flaw. So, clarity is pretty important for couples who choose this style.
Although emerald cut diamond rings are not as brilliant as other shapes, they have an elegant appearance that brides love.
How Much Is the Ring Worth?
When answering this question, we must discuss the 4Cs of diamond quality: cut, clarity, carat weight, and color. While all four features are essential, some are more significant when choosing a diamond than others. It all depends on personal preferences.
The most important thing is to know which of the 4Cs is the most valuable to you. Tastes and budget will differ, therefore the quality of the diamond will be determined by that. You may have to compromise when choosing a diamond ring. For example, if color or clarity is the most important for you, the trade off may be a lower carat weight.
Accurately determining a diamond’s worth typically requires knowing the cut, clarity, color, and carat weight of the stone. In this case, the only information available about Angelica’s engagement diamond ring is the cut. The couple didn’t share more information about the ring with the public, so its estimated price is unknown.
Since the price is unknown and limited information about the 4Cs of this diamond ring is available, we reached out to Estate Diamond Jewelry experts for an estimation. They estimated this beautiful emerald-cut diamond engagement ring to be worth around $100,000-$300,000.
