Avril Lavigne’s Wedding Anniversary Ring Details
Poppunk queen Avril Lavigne married Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger on July 1, 2013. It was a Canadian collision of rock and a promise of forever love (and also Canada Day) that the couple celebrated a year later.
Chad didn’t need to repropose, but he still surprised her with a massive 17-carat, emerald-cut diamond ring, set on a pavé platinum band. It’s more than a 3-carat upgrade from her engagement ring; it’s a promise of serious commitment and love.
“I still can’t believe my 1-year anniversary gift. 17-carat emerald cut. Wow. I love my hubby,” exclaimed Avril on her Instagram post.
Her engagement ring from Chad was already a serious contender in the engagement ring hall of fame. This was a bigger upgrade.
How Much is Avril Lavigne’s Wedding Anniversary Ring?
We got on an exclusive phone call with Benjamin Khordipour, veteran jewelry specialist of NYC’s Estate Diamond Jewelry, to discuss details of this ring. He places the value at more than $1 million, or possibly higher.
The high-quality and super hefty 17-carat, emerald-cut diamond at the center makes this ring more expensive. Diamonds of this size and quality are extremely rare, commanding huge sums in the diamond and jewelry market.
It’s sitting on a platinum pave ring as well, driving the price even higher.
You may also remember her engagement ring from Chad as well. That precious ring features a 14-carat center pear-shaped diamond. It also has two smaller, special-cut half-moon diamonds that total an additional 4 carats. Experts value it at a million in today’s dollars.
Avril and Chad, And Their Adorable Love Story
Avril Lavigne’s hits keep coming wherever she is at in her life. From the ear-infectious top hits like “Complicated” and “Sk8er Boi”, to her number of collaborations outside pop and beyond on the fifth album, they all create top hits. It led to her exploring different genres over the years, but somehow, she always returns to her trademark pop-punk/power pop rock she’s best known for.
Avril Lavigne’s wedding anniversary ring was the culmination of the two Canadian rockers’ love story and fantasy wedding.
The couple worked together on an album in early 2012, and after six months of writing and recording, they became official in July 2012.
The married couple worked on the Canadian pop-punk princess’s fifth studio album, titled Avril Lavigne, released on November 1, 2013. Chad was one of the producers of the album and worked with her in the studio.
Avril went heavier and more diverse, with punk, industrial, and electronic influences merged into her pop sound with ballads, kicking over the acoustic-based previous album she produced with ex-husband Deryck Whimbley of Sum 41, Goodbye Lullaby.
Chad Kroeger and Marilyn Manson both appear on vocals on the album. It’s the first Avril record to feature guest singers, and the first and only release on Epic Records. Other producers involved with the record were Martin Johnson, Peter Svensson, David Hodges, and Matt Squire.
Epic Records chairman L.A. Reid was stoked for the album, beaming on Billboard Magazine, “We’re in the mixing process now, and I expect to release it very soon. I’d like to get it out this year, but time seems to be flying. If we don’t, it will be top of the new year.”
It was supposed to come out in March 2013, but Avril was still putting the finishing touches on it, and spoke to Digital Spy, “I’ve been working on this record for a year, so it’s been quite a while,” she said. “As soon as I played [producer LA Reid] the song, he wanted to put it out right away. So I’m actually still in the studio. I’m still making my record.
“I still have one more song left to write that I’m going to do by myself, because I love to do that. It’s important for me. But it’s just, it’s all happened so fast, and I’m so excited,” she added.
Engagement to Marriage to Anniversary
Our two rocker lovebirds became the hottest engaged Canadian rock royalty on August 8, 2012.
The couple had been working together in the studio for Avril’s fifth album. However, feelings were also growing for both the rockers. HELLO! Canada interviewed the in-love rock musicians on the studio romance, “I knew I was falling for her. It was incredibly powerful and something I’ll never forget,” said Chad.
Avril explained the care she gets from Chad, “He makes me laugh every day. He takes care of me in every way and is extremely attentive.”
The adorable rockers finally got hitched on July 1, 2013, also Canada Day. The couple dressed for the occasion, with Lavigne in a black tulle Monique Lhuillier bridal gown and Kroeger in an all-black suit.
Kroeger beamed about his high-profile wedding with his lovely pop-punk Queen bride, gushing to PEOPLE, “We think it’s very cool that our anniversary will always be on Canada Day. We can’t wait to start our life together. We’re very happy.”
The over-the-top and scenic venue was Château de la Napoule, a 14th-century castle in Mandelieu, in the South of France.
Avril told HELLO! Magazine, “I wanted it to be over the top. I’m obsessed with castles, and I love French décor and Goth. I found this castle, and it was perfect. I also wanted to make sure it was a crazy vacation and an experience of a lifetime for our guests.”
After 2 years of marriage, though, their relationship ended on September 2, 2015. There was no deep explanation behind the split released to the public. However, the two remained good friends and worked on new music and singles from 2015 and onwards.
They were so cute together…
