Halle Berry was on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last night and confirmed her engagement to the love of her life, musician Van Hunt, after 6 years of dating.
The public also saw Halle Berry’s engagement ring for the first time. And it’s a stunning and adorable ring! It finally ended months of romantic speculation.
Halle Berry’s Engagement Ring
Berry showed Jimmy Fallon her gorgeous ring, which is a round-cut diamond in the center, flanked by a square halo with sapphire stones. It has two sapphire stones stacked on top of each other on each side, all set on a yellow gold band. creating a large profile on her ring finger.
She also had to set things straight about rumors of rejecting the proposal.
Berry cleared up the jive talk in the rumor mill and let everyone know that, “I did not say no. We just didn’t have a date!”, referring to a final wedding date. “But of course I said yes, I would marry him,” she beamed. Jimmy Fallon and the audience cheered on.
“There’s some confusion that he asked me to marry him, and I said no, but that’s not the case, ” Halle explained.
No further details remain as of presstime regarding the specs of the adorable ring and Van’s secret proposal to Halle.

Halle and Van’s Path to their Engagement
Halle Berry’s engagement ring finally ended months of rumors and speculation. A few months earlier, there were some vague feelers about the couple’s status. Van Hunt was also waiting for Halle’s confirmation. But many people thought she said no.
Fans and the press all over the globe speculated that marriage and engagement weren’t a priority for Halle and Van, based on their decision not to hurry.
“I’ve been married three times. Van has been married once. And so, no, we don’t feel like we have to get married to validate our love in any way. We don’t,” said Halle a few years ago on the Today show.
Confusion did set in, though, before Halle cleared everything up. Last June 2025, Van revealed he did pop the question the first time, telling Today.com that, “I put out the proposal, and it’s still on hold as you can see. It’s just out there floating. You know, maybe you can encourage her.”
The couple was in no rush to marry, but soon warmed up to the idea of marriage after a steady six-year relationship. Halle Berry’s engagement ring and Van’s proposal in private changed all that.
From Pandemic Meets to Happy Times
While the pandemic was famous for ending many relationships and marriages, it was oddly the time that helped develop the romance between Berry and Hunt.
It was a weird ground zero for the lovely couple, 6 years before culminating in Halle Berry’s engagement ring.
Hunt’s brother helped connect them in early 2020 through his connections at work in Respin, which Berry owned. The initial chats between the two, through text and phone, drew them closer together. They met 4 months later.
Recalling their pandemic romance, Halle remembered their first days in an interview with AARP: The Magazine, “We were forced to let only our brains connect and discover if we had a connection before our bodies decided to get involved. I’d never done it this way. I fell in love with his mind, his conversation.”
By August 16, they were in love, sharing her Vegas birthday vacation on Instagram.
Berry confirmed their relationship more than a month later, on September 17, and later Hunt also met Berry’s kids.
Later, Halle’s son Maceo presided over a “commitment ceremony” for both of them in 2021. She recalls, “My son Maceo, on his own, did this little commitment ceremony for us in the back seat of the car. I think he finally sees me happy, and it’s infectious. It was his way of saying, ‘This is good. This makes me happy.”
