What a killer proposal! Ghoulish greetings to David Howard Thornton and Jada Christie, who got engaged last April 18. Apart from his scary Art the Clown costume, fans and the press saw Jada Christie’s engagement ring for the first time.
The film, TV, video game, and podcast star’s offbeat proposal had everyone talking!
Sweet and Scary! Jada Christie’s Engagement Ring and Proposal
While Jada Christie’s engagement ring was super lovely, Terrifier star David’s full Art the Clown proposal amused horror fans around the world.
David was in full character mode of terror, only to turn super sweet. Art the Clown got on one knee and proposed to the love of his life.
The ring holds a special place in David’s heart. It was a gift from his late mom. From the looks of it, it features a cushion-cut diamond flanked by baguette diamonds on each side, on a platinum band.
“She said YES!!! @lapetitejada,” captioned David on the Instagram reel of his amazing proposal video. The adorable sweethearts were at the Huntsville Comic & Pop Culture Expo in Huntsville, Alabama, on April 18, when the horror movie actor and video game character player popped the question.
The sweet twosome horror kids had been together for 9 months prior to David proposing.
The horror fan couple was at the expo for David’s in-character appearance as the horrifying Art the Clown, the scary killer clown from the cult horror movies The 9th Circle and the Terrifier movie series.
His makeup and FX artist, Alana Rose, recalled how she and David were in cahoots during the horror convention that the makeup and costume were more than just for his special appearance and for scaring convention-goers. He was going to get engaged in it!
“Will you marry me?” asked Art the Clown, doing a complete 180 from his usual slasher business. Jada immediately said yes after getting caught up emotionally and jumping around in joy.
David and Jada
We’ve all been jump-scared and terrified by David as Art the Clown in the Terrifier slasher horror movie series. Born on November 30, 1979, in Huntsville, Alabama, the actor and video game character player started as a voice character actor for cult video games such as Two Worlds II: Pirates of the Flying Fortress, Ride to Hell: Retribution, and Invizimals: The Lost Kingdom.
From 2016 to 2017, he played the Joker in Nightwing: Escalation, a fan-made online series. This led to his casting as an orderly in Gotham’s episode “A Dark Knight: The Blade’s Path”.
In 2016, he received his breakthrough role as Art the Clown, which made him a modern horror/slasher movie icon in the widely popular Terrifier movie series. He also starred as The Grinch in the horror adaptation of ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas!’ entitled ‘The Mean One’.
He received a nomination for the 2019 Fangoria Chainsaw Awards for Best Supporting Actor in Terrifier. Then, in 2024, he starred in the metal band Ice Nine Kills‘ “A Work of Art” music video as Art the Clown.
Last year, he played the horror version of Steamboat Willie in Screamboat, a comedy horror movie.

Their Epic Love Story: United by Horror Movies
The couple met over nine months ago at the right time. Jada posted on her Instagram story about meeting and falling in love with him. “I met David when I was still with the person who did not treat me right.”
She continued, “But David was not the reason the relationship ended. My dad passed away, and I realized how short life really is and how badly I needed change. We officially started dating in July, and my life has changed for the better in so many ways. Thank you for all of the congratulations and well wishes you have sent ❤️.”
His fiancée, Jada Christie, regularly attends horror events and conventions with him. They met in July 2025, over nine months ago. She appeared on his Instagram in August, a month after they started dating. The wonderful world of horror movies brought them together.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, he explained that, “Jada and I first met at a convention. We get a picture together at every convention that we keep as a souvenir for every convention that we are at together.”
Through their mutual love of horror movies and art, the sparks flew the minute they met, and they have been together ever since.
The Horror-Themed Proposal
David planned the cool proposal with his makeup and FX artist, Alana, and manager Bob, that fateful day.
“I wanted to do something fun and unique that paid homage to both the films and our history together. I figured proposing in such a way at a convention in my hometown with my family present and using the ring my mother left me before she passed would be perfect, and had this planned with my appearance manager, Bob Catalano, for several months.”
A cavalcade of congrats and lovely wishes flooded their Instagram accounts within hours, as their fans adored and gushed over the cute couple.
David thanked friends and fans the world over. He stated he was “so happy she said yes! We’re excited about our future together and thank everyone for the well wishes!”
Terrifier 4 is set for release later this year.

David you’re the man, I’m a fan! You lucky dude, Jada is the most amazing gal. Happy for you guys!
