On Jan. 10, 2023, Twitter was the platform of choice for yet another engagement announcement. Former “X Factor” star Ella Henderson revealed that she got engaged to her boyfriend of three years, retired athlete Jake Burnell. The romantic holiday in Mauritius was the perfect setting for the 29-year-old to pop the question and take his relationship with Ella to the next level. Jake got down on one knee in a five-star resort on the subtropical island.
Ella and Jake shared the news with their fans and followers on Instagram, while their loved ones congratulated the happy couple. Ella posted many snaps of her and her future husband kissing and hugging, giving the fans a closer look at her gorgeous diamond ring. The “Ghost” hitmaker met her future husband on a dating app in 2020 during the Covid pandemic. However, since the lockdown rules in the UK were strict, it was nine weeks before the couple met each other in real life.
They met on FaceTime in early 2020 but made the relationship official in June of the same year. Ella had just finished her second album, “Everything I Didn’t Say,” and struggled with a recent breakup. She later confessed that the album was excellent for the healing process. She was determined to focus on her career and was done with guys when fate intervened.
