Greek dress fashion and styles are prevalent in wedding wear. Its cultural fashion imprints have become trademark features in wedding dresses, along with modern styles and designs. The timeless aesthetics have become very natural inclusions in wedding design over the years.

What is a Greek or Grecian wedding dress? What are its features and design themes that have become bridal wear features as well? Jump to this section for more details.

Our resident fashion researcher and connoisseur, Rallye Ibanez, a Fine Arts graduate and experienced wedding fashion writer and design assistant, investigated and researched, and now presents 30 of the best curated Greek and Grecian-inspired bridal wear. This lovely collection pays tribute to different Greek fashion nods to wedding dresses. Enjoy.

1. Grecian Boho-Inspired Wedding Dress With Floral Lace

boho sleeveless wedding dress with peplos style tulle and lace

This modern styled, boho-influenced Grecian wedding dress by Mimetic carries lovely Greek trademarks, such as the empire waistline and draped-over layer of tulle with lace adornments. The outer layer works as sleeves and as a decorative, whole-dress collection of lace motifs. Flowing down to its skirt, it features a Hellenic floor-length hem. The low neckline and backline of its sleeveless top add modern, sexy accents to this simple and adorable wedding dress.

2. Wrap-Style, Low V Neckline Backless Greek Wedding Dress

wrap style draped backless Greek toga goddess dress with cutaways and fabric belt

We heat things up with a stunning backless draped-style Greek wedding dress by Athena by Art. I adore this dress for its simple, sexy, and elegant look. Hot Grecian toga wrap style dress, with the draped-over left and right side tunics, separated by a very low, open V-neck, and an exposed back. These are very fierce dress features!

The empire waistline features a goddess with open spread wings across it, supporting curves for its bust and hips. The seductive features end with left and right side cutaways on its flowing, ankle-length skirt.

3. Low V Neckline Wrap Style Wedding Dress

Low V neck wrap Greek wedding dress toga with rope belt

Another sexy variation of the wrap style, draped-over, Greek dress comes from this banger from Gaia Boho Co. The light. carefree, hippie spirit of Boho meets trademark classic Greek styles: Draped over fabric wrap with a very low V neckline, Empire waistline made of stylized rope, long flowing skirt, and not one but two cutaways per side, double the sultriness.

I love this modern take on Hellenic fashion and boho influences in a casual wedding dress. These types of hybrid dress styles create more gorgeous brides taking over the wedding aisle.

4. White Sleeveless Grecian Wedding Gown

sleeveless low back Grecian wedding gown and open tassel sleeves

A stunning white Grecian wedding gown here from U Center features the top Greek dress styles. An empire waistline and sweetheart neckline support the bust and hip curves. The laced straps, low back, and waistline section further accent these critical curve areas. The waistline and the A-Line skirt flow with elegance, creating a long, Watteau-like train. I love this classic example of combining older dress styles with modern styles; they incorporate sexy elements into the grand designs of bridal wear.

5. Grecian-Inspired Chiffon Wedding Dress

Grecian chiffon wedding gown with bishop sleeves and flowing A-Line

Modern white wedding dresses with Greek dress styles combine well, like in this chiffon gown offering from Dreamers and Rockers.

The draped wrap style appears as a nice feature of the wrap bodice, complementing the deep V neckline and sexy low back. The 3/4th bishop sleeves are a great addition, and look graceful and romantic. The knockout combo of an empire waistline wrap belt creates a long, flowing layered chiffon skirt and chapel train.

These simple features are a great match together. I love how they composed and constructed dress features to create this lovely outfit. It’s one of my top picks.

6. Modern Greek-Inspired Lace Wedding Dress

Deep V neckline wedding dress Illusion lace layer flowing A-line

Beautiful bridal lace and Greek wrap-style tops turn out to be a killer combination, as seen on this elegant maxi wedding dress by Valensia Dresses. Lace is a design accent here, serving as an underlayer to wrapped chiffon layers in the front and a deep V neckline. The bride’s back design features Illusion-styled lace and buttons. After a wrap front and Illusion back bodice, the maxi skirt creates the last stretch, leading to a glorious, floor-length chiffon skirt and modest train.

7. Sweetheart Greek Sleeveless Sweep Train Wedding Dress

sleeveless strapless sweetheart neckline wedding dress and A-line skirt

The wrap and drape designs in Greek dresses are very compatible with bridal wear. This minimalist Hellenic ivory wedding dress from Dress Afford uses it to great effect as a decoration and texture for its strapless bodice with a sweetheart neckline.

The form-fitting corset formation features adjustable backstraps with a low back. Meanwhile, the front and back midsections feature drapery styles fastened at the beltline adorned with silver paisley diamond decor. These symmetric drapes create a mesmerizing flow to the A-line skirt and chapel train.

8. Greek Goddess Gown with Swarovski Crystals

V-neckline wedding Greek goddess dress with chapel train silver belt Swarovski crystals

Be in a Greek-style wedding dress with a luxurious Greek goddess look in this marvellous creation by Belinda’s Designs Miami. The wrap-dress, peplos-style draped composition looks seductive with the low V neckline. Swarovski crystals adorn its shoulder brooches and belt, adding Greek royalty feels.

The long, flowing, towering layers of silk chiffon and satin create a majestic skirt and long chapel train. I think this is one of the more majestic pieces in our collection, and one of my personal faves as well.

9. Corset Top Grecian Wedding Dress

Grecian Wedding gown with straps sweetheart necklace corset top flowing A-line skirt sweep train

Thin-strap, corset-top wedding gowns look lovely with Greek accents and designs. ieie Bridal has these bridal dresses that use Greek drapery on their corset bodice with a low back and adjustable ties. Fuller curves appear with an empire waistline and bridal lace section. The pleated themes continue after the high waist, creating a graceful A-Line skirt that drapes over the floor with a chapel train. A Hellenic evening-dress styled wedding gown that I love, and one of my top picks in this collection.

10. Flowy Grecian Wedding Dress

sleeveless V neckline wedding dress shoulder tassels and silver sash

Sleeveless evening wear styles fused with Greek dress features collaborate on this pretty wedding dress by Yasmin Varsano. The low V-neckline sleeveless top has secured top sections ala peplos garments, with hanging shoulder ties. It also has a very seductive low backline and a tulle bow tie ribbon. The thin high-waist belt creates a long and graceful skirt and a matching sweep train that makes this outfit extra charming.

11. Ethereal Greek Wedding Dress

V neck sleeveless Greek wedding dress with layered chiffon cape and sweep train

Combining wedding accessories with Greek dress styles can help create a layered bridal wear look. Reev Bridal presents this adorable draped-over dress with a layered chiffon cape, adding grander allure to its design. The draped-over layers of chiffon create a wrap-style top with a low V neckline and secured top shoulders. The same fabric knots over the hips, creating a draped section over the top of a graceful A-line skirt and long court train.

12. White Chiffon Beach Wedding

Boho Greek wrap drape wedding dress with short loose sleeves A-Line skirt

This minimalist white chiffon Greek-style wedding dress has both the styles of chiton and leplos dresses. The Boho-Greek wrap top creates the bodice and loose short sleeves, followed by a sash tie that ends in a ribbon at its low backline. The pleated bottom of the beltline gives way to a relaxed, A-Line, floor-length hem skirt.

I love the simple elegance of this dress. It also proves that the Boho and Greek styles are similar and compatible. They are a joy to see combined and working together in wedding dresses.

13. Simple Grecian Wedding Dress

minimalist Greek style wedding dress with corset-style back straps

Minimalist sleeveless wedding dresses with simple Greek styles work great, such as this chiffon ankle-length dress. It’s a classic, minimalist Greek-style dress, using a pleated, draped-over-looking skirt and midsection. Adjustable corset-style ties create curves, especially the bust and hips, to highlight them.

I think it’s a lovely gown, but it can be too minimalist in some instances. Adding extra layers such as tulle veils, capes, and shawls, or a Greek-style himation can help layer and accent it.

14. Open Back Bridal Dress

open back and side accents sleeveless wedding dress A-line ankle length

Wedding dresses can be both minimal and stylish, using familiar Greek dress styles. AYA Sacred Wear created this special sleeveless dress that goes for the look of an open top peplos dress, with a modern interpretation. The open square back and open oval hips design recreate the open sections, followed by a wide, ankle-length skirt.

This is a lovely dress fusing contemporary features and classic designs. And as for my suggestion, this will also look great accessorized: tulle veils, capes, shawls, or himation drapes look great, as well as head pieces and other accessories.

15. Greek Goddess Dress in White and Gold

Greek goddess style evening wear wedding dress long fringes gold straps ties and accents

What can be more Greek goddess in style when creating a captivating evening dress fused with deluxe Grecian motifs in a sexy wedding dress? This celestial outfit by Utopia Flame 1 had me convinced because of its long, graceful fringes, and macrame weave gold sternum decor, crossing into its golden sash tie. They create a gilded network from the straps, crossed back straps, back ribbon ties, and supporting side straps that accent the curves of the bodice area.

I hand-pick this dress for the fantastical “Boho-Greek style reception party slash (also) wedding dress at the Greek Gods’ dimension” entry of this collection. A unique piece I recommend for lavish and themed weddings.

16. Layered Grecian Wedding Dress with Sleeves

sleeveless sweetheart neckline wedding dress with

This minimalist Boho-Greek combined wedding dress by Larimeloom looks and feels Greek, and gracefully. It uses the draped and wrap-style to layer the top and its skirt and create the form of a leplos and a himation. Layered over the basic undergarment dress made of hemp, it complements well with the sweetheart neckline, straps, and floor hemline skirt.

It’s a relaxed, adorable-looking wedding dress. The light silk crepe chiffon, silk smooth chiffon material makes it airy and light, but also comfy. And yes, it’s another point of discussion regarding the merits and compatibility (and being very related) of Boho and Greek dress fashion, but I digress.

17. Minimalist Greek Wedding Dress

Boho Greek dress toga with rope straps belt and skirt slits cutaways

Here is another solid example of the Boho ‘hippie chic’ fused with Greek goddess dress styles. Also made by AYA Sacred Wear, the fusion works and is certified hot as well. The very low V neckline, wrap-style sleeveless bodice, and double cross straps connect to the waistline, creating a very sexy top. The left, right, and back skirt slits make it a sexier skirt than most of our collection.

18. White Fringe Wedding Dress

one shoulder sleeved top toga with empire waistline belt A-line skirt hemline fringes

Combining modern elements with Greek dress styles often works. In a fashionable wedding style context, it works as seen on this dress by Kayame Boutique.

The one-shoulder neckline, combined with a strap on the other shoulder, makes the top a sexy Greek style. The lovely belt on an empire waistline, hemline fringe, and left and right side skirt cutaways divert the skirt and give the dress a hybrid design that works, ditching the traditional train and floor-covering traits of wedding dresses.

I highly recommend following the visual tips on this dress with the accessories. The simple, artsy necklaces and bracelets are just a few nice accessories you can add for a more stylish look.

19. Elegant Wrap Style Draped Grecian Wedding Dress

Elegant Grecian Wedding gown open sides plunging V neck and low back chapel train

This spectacular Grecian wedding gown from Jewel Clues has all the classic trademarks of the genre: Grand, graceful, draped chiffon and polyester, with open side sections and fabric wraps in the style of peplos and chiton dresses.

The dress’s deep V-neckline and low back pair well with sleeveless side tassels secured at the shoulder tops. Pair it with a gilded empire waistline belt like this, and it becomes even more immaculate looking. It also creates a shapely top and creates a towering skirt with beautiful ruffled layers of chiffon. I think this is one of the most amazing wedding dresses in our collection.

20. Plunging V Neckline Minimalist Wedding Dress

simple minimalist sleeveless V neck toga Greek wedding dress

Many of our hand-picked dresses in this curated collection are minimalist in design and composition. It’s one of the most enduring trademarks of the style, as seen on this dress by June Bridals. The deep V neck, low back, wrap-style top, high waist, and sprawled out floor-length hemline with a chapel train are gorgeous staple features. The simple elegance of this dress works either as a standalone bridal outfit or with accessories, capes, veils, or shawls. Either way, it’s a beautiful, minimalist Grecian wedding gown.

21. Ancient Greek Wedding Dress

Adding modern styles to Grecian wedding dresses works well, as seen on this creation by Simply Boho. The combination of sexy evening and Boho dress styles matches with a natural flair. Cotton and linen materials provide a comfortable and light fit.

The dress’s evening wear halter top, very low V-neckline, a backless side, and wrap-style top all make it extra seductive. The empire waistline has a lovely patterned lace midsection, enabling a long, flowing A-Line skirt down to the ankle-length hemline. Simple, seductive, and utterly Greek with welcome modern accents.

22. Prairie Wedding Dress

Plunging V neck Greek Boho toga dress with thick sash belt and skirt cutaways slits

Look absolutely Hellenic, with a touch of Boho and some modern accents, with this dress by Kafkaftan. The light, airy cotton dress sways with your movement. Meanwhile, the sexy modern features highlight the dress.

The simple, draped, wrap fabric forms a deep V neckline and back, and uses the peplos style, with loose, almost three-quarters short sleeves. Matching left, right, and rear skirt cutaways provide extra allure and seductive breaks in the ankle-length skirt. It’s also a minimalist dress, something common in this genre, but it retains the glory and prettiness of simple white Greek dresses.

23. Accordion Pleats Satin Wedding Dress

minimalist textured wrap drape V neck low back Greek wedding dress with skirt cutaway

One of the main trademarks of a Greek dress is the maximal use of long fabrics. This dress by Sissily Designs captures this classic feature, minimal but graceful. It uses long drapes wrapped around the bodice, forming a deep V-neck and deep back.

These Greek methods of “forming” the dress as the design creates a unique look: fabric wraps with peplos and chiton-styled garments, layered over and secured with belts, ties, and brooches. This arrangement also creates a skirt cutaway with a wraparound style. These Grecian wedding gown staples create beautiful pleated, ruffled, or accordion-like fabric textures, with fine lines stretching down the skirt.

24. One-Shoulder Corset-Top Grecian Wedding Dress

one shoulder Greek inspired dress with long tassel strap A-Line skirt chapel train

One-shoulder Greek-style dresses are lovely, offering more skin and opportunities for design variations. This offering from Vintage Lane Bridal features a corset top with a cross-wrapped, draped-over design. The single strap shoulder has a beautiful, long tassel sash that joins its train, secured with a rose ribbon at the shoulder.

These features create a more curvy silhouette and a flowing A-Line skirt and chapel train that looks hot. It’s another minimalist Greek-inspired dress that carries a minimalist yet elegant look.

25. One-Shoulder Greek Wedding Dress

One shoulder minimalist draped satin Greek wedding dress mermaid silhouette

One-shoulder Greek dresses are hot, as established in this curated collection, and in this beautiful, minimalist dress by Galadriel Bridal. The layered satin creates wonderful fabric textures. Then, the draped fabric design gets ultra low and seductive with its backless side. It still manages to assert some curves with the top and its mermaid silhouette, extending the flow and energy to it graceful skirt and sweep train.

26. Greek Beach Wedding Dress

halter top choker with V neck and fringe skirt and all over macrame weaving

Greek dresses rarely bring in lavish patterns and motifs, often using them in one or a few parts of the dress. However, this creation by Lampika Design features a heavily-patterned macrame and fringe-laden fusion of Boho styles, Greek dress features, and texture all throughout.

I tackled the halter top with V-neck combinations before, but this one is unique. The thick, patterned choker with an almost turtleneck design and back strap looks very sexy, followed by a low V neckline and backless side. Heavy diagonal motifs and patterns converge and create textures with the shapely dress, ending with long fringes that form a train.

27. Grecian Wedding Dress with Custom Vintage Lace

Greek design with the charm of vintage lace detailing

Halter top V-neck dresses continue to shine in our collection. This dress by Of Lace and Pearls is a great example. It features intricate floral lace textures over the curvy bodice. The top waves down in the back for a backless side. After it, the empire waistline creates a long downward flow with the A-line skirt. It has a secret satin undergarment layer for extra comfort.

28. Linen Grecian Wedding Dress

characterized by its flowing and draped silhouette inspired by ancient Greek styles

Greek style dress are often minimal, but manage to be graceful and elegant in their simplicity. This dress by Linen Wedding Dresses has the look and composition of a leplos garment, sleeveless, with a closed, jewel neckline. A simple sash beltline tapers to create upper and lower pleats, then extends the downward flow to an A-line skirt with a floor-length hemline. Greek minimalist styles look great on their own and create even more detail and beauty with accessories.

29. Sleeveless Empire Waist Chiffon Wedding Dress

The gown features a high waistline just below the bust, creating a flattering and elongated silhouette

Suave sleeveless Greek dresses have made a major presence in many of our entries. June Bridals offers another elegant piece for our collection, featuring a low V neckline accented by an Illusion lace section.

The designer highlighted the empire waistline with a silver sash band. The layered Greek “drape over” design appears in the front skirt and back, flowing down with a circular sweep train to make it even sweeter. Its simple elegance and minor accents create a lovely Grecian wedding gown.

30. Long Grecian Wedding Dress

This dress showcases a draped and column-style design, crafted from lightweight fabrics like chiffon, silk, or organza

Our last entry still maintains the beautiful features of the Greek wedding dress category. This dress from Dorris Wedding is a simple, Greek-inspired wedding dress with spaghetti straps, a V neckline, a backless side, and an empire waistline sash to highlight bodice curves. Lovely floral lace adorns the bodice. From there, cascading waves of tulle build up the skirt and its chapel train for a wonderful finish.

With that, our Greek-style wedding dress collection is complete. Is it an exhaustive list? Yes. Overwhelming? Yes to a point. But our guide presents a complete collection of styles that work and look great.

Grecian Wedding Gown Styles and Their Origins

Greek wedding dresses appeared in history sometime around 2000 BCE. However, there are no definite time eras to pinpoint its first forms and development.

However, mentions in ancient literature indicate its specific bridal dress styles in those years. Some examples include Pliny the Elder’s Natural History (77 CE), Achilles Tatius’ Leucippe and Clitophon (3rd century CE), Hesiod’s Theogony and Works and Days (700 BC), and Catullus’ works in Epithalamium On Vinia And Manlius (84 BC). These authors detailed the use of veils, girdles, gilded and beaded dresses, white toga dresses, and the use of jewelry and accessories.

Greek Dress Styles and Designs in Bridal Wear and Fashion

Some of the most well-known and enduring Grecian dress features are single shoulder tops, wrap-style tops, empire waistlines, floor-length or longer flowing skirts and trains, and long, drapery fabric styles.

Three dress styles from ancient Greece and their variations have also become part of bridal designs and fashion. First is the peplos, or an open, rectangular body-length dress pinned at the top of each shoulder and fastened with a belt. Then there’s the chiton, a big, wide, draped-over open dress, fastened with a belt and shoulder brooches.

The third one is the himation, a mantle, wrap, or cloak to cover the head and upper body. It is also used as an early form of a veil. Decorated, embroidered, and patterned himations also indicated wealth and higher status.

Greek dress materials include plain white linen, satin, tulle, silk, and other smooth and light fabrics. Lace is only for minor embellishments or accents, especially modern-styled dresses. But overall, its focus is on simple, elegant combinations and designs rather than very detailed or overly lavish ones.
