Love Island USA lovebirds Hannah Wright and Marco Donatelli met, fell in love, got engaged, and finally got married over the course of one season of the popular hit reality show. They are also the first winning couple to do so.
But more importantly, the people and the press want to know more about Hannah Wright and Marco Donatelli’s engagement and ring. We pressed for more details from all our legit sources to get the exclusives.
The Engagement and the Engagement Ring

On May 28, 2025, Marco Donatelli led his true love, Hannah Wright, to a sweet beachside flower arrangement at the Secrets Cap Cana Resort & Spa in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. He got on one knee and proposed with a stunning and very meaningful ring that prompted her everlasting yes.
The magnificent ring features remnants of the past reaffirming themselves in the present. Marco had a round solitaire-cut center diamond set in platinum on the first promise ring he gave her on their first anniversary in August 2024. It now adorns the ring, which is a pavé platinum band. He requested 14k white gold, and the jewelry company he worked with, KAY Jewelers, upgraded it to platinum.
The second and most moving feature of the ring is her late father’s last words, engraved into the ring. “Protect my baby – RW”. Hannah’s tears fell, for love conquers all in time. These two unique customizations of the ring have made it even more special and full of meaning.
Hannah was caught off guard by her fiancé’s clever setup. She spoke to People about it, explaining, “I was shocked, I had no idea, and I was convinced that we were solely there for a vacation trip. I was crying the whole time. The setup was beautiful and felt like a dream.”
According to Donatelli, he had 9 months to prepare for the engagement. Everything needed careful planning. He admitted to People Magazine that, “It was so nerve-wracking hiding this from Hannah for so long.”
Hannah and Marco ❤️
Let’s take a closer look at the sweethearts and soon-to-be-married Love Island USA lovey-doveys.
Before the 5th season of Love Island USA, Hannah Wright was busy as a teacher and journalist. She graduated in 2022 from San Francisco State University with a degree in Broadcast, Electronic Communication, and Arts (BECA).
Hannah further pursued post-collegiate studies at the International School of Journalism in Copenhagen, Denmark. She also worked as a reporter for MUSE TV and a news intern at KQED in San Francisco, CA.
According to TV Insider, Hannah saw a post online for the casting call on the show. “I saw a post from a casting director, so I messaged, and I said, ‘Oh, I’m interested!’ And then she sent me the application, and then, yeah, that’s how I got cast,” she explained.
Aside from being the winners of the show and receiving the proposal of her life, Hannah became a brand ambassador for Kay Jewelers, NARS Cosmetics, and Google Maps.
Marco Donatelli was a college football player at the University of Akron and an aspiring chiropractor before his lucky run on Love Island, having had pre-physical therapy studies at Florida Atlantic University. He also had dreams of being a football star.
However, he became even bigger in the media for his funny TikTok videos. He and his Dad went to Walmart using scuba masks instead of COVID face masks.
His boom in the reels and socmed viralities led to very hot modeling work. Kay Jewelers, NARS Cosmetics, Calvin Klein, and Instagram are just some of his modeling portfolio work clients.
Marco’s entry into the show was a little bit different from Hannah. In 2023, he joined Love Island after agents of the show contacted him with an Instagram DM. Marco joined after years of local dating and wanting someone romantically.
The Relationship Timeline
Some forces beyond inordinary cosmic alignment (and also both of their perfect timings and joinings) were responsible for bringing Hannah and Marco together on that lovely beach island show, at the same time and same batch.
Hannah entered the Season 5 villa on the second day, July 19, 2023. He liked Marco, and Marco liked her back. There was an instant connection in their sweet love story.
“I feel like we’re just so similar and we have different backgrounds, but we have similar morals”, she explained to TV Insider. “It’s just so crazy. I feel like we wouldn’t have met [in the real world], honestly. I definitely would’ve saw him and been attracted to him, but he’s in Florida, I’m in Palm Springs. Who knows if our path would’ve crossed?”
The couple’s bond stayed strong from the get-go, starting with a beachside picnic date and keeping each other during that Casa Amor episode. Through their ups and downs at the festive beachside of the villa in Fiji, they stayed strong. The strong instant bonds and openness helped them secure the win with a $100,000 cash prize, split between them.
Marco told People Magazine she is his forever, with their deep connection and growth since falling in love in Fiji 2 years ago, “I knew that Hannah was my forever exactly at the point where she helped me battle my childhood trauma, and just helping me understand who I am and that I can be confident in the person I am.”
“It really came to light in January when we started couples therapy. I got to dig into who I am as a person, and she helped me through healing me and teaching me what it is like to be loved and love somebody else. That’s when I really knew.”
After the show, the couple visited Hannah’s family in Palm Springs, California. In September of the same year, Hannah moved to Boca Raton, Florida, from Texas to join Marco. They adopted a cute Goldendoodle named Giuseope a year later. Today, the lovely couple is still going strong and steady.
