The couple has been dating for 3 years, and John wants their relationship to be official. Jane said yes to his proposal, which happened during Valentine’s Day, a day before her birthday. They announced it to fans and the press at the Songwriters Hall of Fame induction ceremony on June 11.
Jane Seymour’s Engagement Ring, John’s Adorable Proposal
John proposed to Jane on Valentine’s Day this year, after 3 years of dating. He proposed to her in their Malibu home. However, unlike most super romantic proposals, it turned out to be quite a funny situation, which became a charming part of their relationship.
Recounting his awkward, funny, but super sweet proposal blooper during Heart’s Day to People, John narrated the funny proposal booboo, “I got down on my knees, the whole thing. I had the ring hidden in the safe, pulled out the ring. I opened the box, and the ring popped out of the box, onto the bed.”
“Then I had to climb under the bed, and then I couldn’t get out, and she had to get out of the bed and pull me out of the bed,” he continued.
Jane confessed one more naughty detail, “And we weren’t wearing any clothes.”
She had some difficulty pulling John out from under the bed, and they ended up laughing at the awkward situation.
Jane Seymour’s engagement ring is a unique and lovely creation, featuring two round-cut center stones surrounded by a flower halo of 9 smaller stones, bezel-set in gold. Paired diagonally on top of each other, each has a stem-like shank of three small round diamonds. It’s a vintage Tou et Moi-style ring.
John discovered the unique ring in an antique store and fell in love with its design. They later found out its design was from Napoleon Bonaparte’s engagement ring for his wife, Josephine.
It’s a Family Connection
John and Jane met at their mutual friend Shwayze’s concert in 2023. It turned out that their sons and rapper Shwayze were all mutual friends as well. Their sons introduced them, and after learning they all knew each other, they went out on a date.
Speaking on the Tamron Hall show in 2024, she told her about her first date with John and how she clicked with him instantly: “We ended up having a very, very long chat the next day with a cup of tea, which ended up having dinner. And then we realized that his son John, Shwayze, and my son Sean Flynn, they were all friends, and he used to hang out at my house.”
John spoke to People about their adult kids’ approval, saying, “Well, our kids put us together. So we certainly don’t have to worry about the kids not approving of who we were with. I’m very lucky to be with her.”
“He’s just the kindest, most intelligent, loving, caring, giving human being I’ve ever met,” Jane gushed over her soon-to-be hubby.
She also told US Weekly of their family dynamic, saying, “There’s nothing but music in my house. He’s a singer-songwriter. His son is a singer-songwriter. My son is a singer-songwriter.”
“Someone decided they wanted to be with me for the rest of their lives,” she added.
Getting to Know John Zambetti
John Zambetti, born on October 5, 1949, in Riverdale, Bronx, New York, is a singer-songwriter and member of the surf rock band, The Malibooz, since 1964. He was also part of other well-known 60s and 70s bands such as Sageworth, The Walter Egan Band, and The Johnny Z Band.
He went to medical school in New York in 1971 and became an emergency room physician in addition to being a musician. The rock’n’roll doctor has been playing, composing, and performing music for over 50 years, and has been an ER doctor since the late 70s.
He is friends and has worked and played with the likes of Stevie Nicks, Lindsay Buckingham, Mick Jagger, The Allman Brothers Band, Jefferson Airplane, The Grateful Dead, Poco, Jackson Browne, Emmylou Harris, Rick Roberts and The Flying Burrito Brothers, Jeff “Skunk” Baxter, Dan Fogelberg, and Linda Ronstadt.
