Jessie Cave (AKA Lavender Brown from Harry Potter) just got engaged to her long-time beau, comedian Alfie Brown! On April 12, Jessie Cave’s engagement ring made its first public appearance after Alfie proposed to her. The couple has been in a long-term relationship for over 12 years, with four kids: a daughter and three sons.

Jessie Cave’s engagement ring appeared on Instagram on April 12 with a caption from Jessie herself, “12 years and 4 kids later …. It’s getting serious!!! 💍 💍 💍”. Her dazzling ring appears to feature a marquise center section with six diamonds- four front center, with smaller side stones on each side- secured with prongs, on a rose gold band.
Though Jessie and Alfie were on and off earlier in their relationship, they stood the test of time, now with 4 children between them.
The lovely sweethearts share a Spotify podcast program called “Before We Break Up Again”, a candid show where they talk about life as partners with kids and many life situations they find themselves in.
On an Instagram post, she says, “We started our podcast, which has kind of acted as couples therapy (go for it, start a couples podcast!) and also doing it is a nice reminder that I have some interests other than pregnancy, birth, and child-rearing.”
Speaking to Fabric in 2021, Jessie revealed their tendency to find the funny side in life, saying, “It is my natural response to try and find humor in things. I think that it is something that I learnt from awkward things happening early on in life and having to decide if it was going to break me, or if I was going to carry on. I have always found comedy to be the easiest therapy. I did Sunrise over 150 times. Towards the end, it felt like nothing to me to stand on stage and reveal this stuff about myself.”
This outlook helped the couple manage the ups and downs of life together, as partners and as parents to their 4 lovely children: Donnie, aged 11; their only daughter, Margot, 9; Abraham, 5; and Becker, 3.

We all remember English actress and comedian Jessie Cave, born on May 5, 1987, as Lavender Brown, the Gryffindor Witch in the Harry Potter movies, specifically in Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows – Part 2. She beat 7,000 other girls in the audition for that role in 2007.

Our lovely sweethearts Jessie and Alfie were in the same comedy circuit that eventually brought them together. Speaking with The Times back in 2020, Jessie recalled how they were in the same stand-up comedy circles but only met later on in 2012: “We were both on the same bill for a comedy night. I was onstage doing some questionable material (which luckily my memory has deleted), and I heard his laugh. I went red.”
Two years later, they finally met and dated after a mutual friend connected them. They did end up going home together that night. They didn’t meet again until months later when she discovered she was pregnant with his child. She joked about it on an Instagram post, saying, “Twelve years today since I got pregnant on our ‘one night stand’. ❤️ LOVE ❤️ @alfiebrowncomedian.”
Life’s Minor Ups and Downs
Like many long-term couples, Jessie and Alfie had their challenges, including separations and health issues. They weathered through them over the years.
The couple first split in 2018. They reconciled and had their second son in 2020. However, they also had a secret split in early 2025.
Speaking with Mirror, Jessie recounts the unpleasant times during this split. “I’ve watched him hide away and overthink, lose himself. I watched him do Edinburgh shows in tears at midnight, as he first worked the show out, a few months after everything disintegrated,” she recalled.
The COVID era also impacted their lives. In January 2021, her third child, Tenn, contracted the virus. She spoke with Sky News, saying, “I watched the news about lockdown from an isolated room in hospital. Poor baby is COVID-positive. He’s okay and doing well, but they are being vigilant and cautious, thankfully.”
“This strain is super powerful and contagious. So I do hope that people take extra care in the coming weeks,” she added.
In February 2022, Jessie got the virus. She had to go to the hospital while she was pregnant with her son, her 4th child, Becker. It was during her third trimester.
She posted an update on Instagram, noting, “Triage, once again. Anyone else had COVID in 3rd trimester & had it hit them like a tonne of bricks for weeks?”
Jessie contracted the COVID virus, followed by the Norovirus, which negatively impacted her and her son.
