We spoke with Benjamin Khardipour, G.D., GIA GG, the jewelry specialist at NYC’s Estate Diamond Jewelry, about the price of the much-talked-about engagement ring. Jump to the details here.
Kourtney Kardashian’s Engagement Ring and Travis’ Ultra Romantic Proposal
Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker had the perfect ring to propose to Kourtney that fateful afternoon. The setting was cinematic, as they stood on a beautiful beach at sunset at the Rosewood Miramar Beach Hotel in Montecito, California.
High-end jewelry designer Lorraine Schwartz created the simple yet elegant ring. Schwartz made the engagement ring more special. She used an elongated oval-shaped solitaire diamond with a platinum band. Barker had some input in the creation, and the rest was up to the top ring crafting specialist.
To provide the beach a more romantic feel, Barker also had a heart-shaped flower and candle arrangement prepared. He agreed to film the proposal as long as he didn’t see any visible cameras. It was the perfect sunset proposal that appeared in many online feeds across the globe.
Kourtney Kardashian’s engagement ring soon appeared on Instagram, creating hype and excitement. The proposal led to a Vegas chapel wedding in April 2022. A month later, they officially and legally got married in a Santa Barbara courthouse. They also got married again during their weekend trip to Italy at L’Olivetta villa in Portofino, with a reception in Castello Brown.
Kourtney and Travis were in the same circles before and knew each other, and were also neighbors for years, before he appeared on the Kardashians’ TV show several times. They started dating in 2020, and their relationship became official in 2021. Their proposal date was actually the anniversary of their first hangout.
Cut and Shape

Schwartz’s oval-cut diamond engagement rings are sought after in Hollywood. Blake Lively, Ariana Grande, Hailey Bieber, and Jasmine Tookes are just a few of the celebrities who have worked with her.
Schwartz was the perfect choice. She worked on Kourtney’s sister Kim’s and his ex-husband Kanye’s engagement rings before.
Oval-cut diamond rings are popular choices for their simplicity and elegance. They enhance the look of the bride’s fingers due to their wider shape.
Unlike round diamond styles, they can also be versatile with varying lengths and widths, and stone positioning.
Carat

Kourtney Kardashian’s engagement ring is in the range of 10 to 12 carats. Some jewelry experts even state that it is 15 carats or more.
Oval-shaped diamonds look bigger regardless of their total carats. You can achieve a luxurious look without having to spend a bigger budget with these cuts.
Diamond Color

Our resident jewelry specialist, Benjamin Khardipour, classifies the diamond with a D or E color. These classes are the rarest and most expensive. The higher the clarity and close to flawlessness, the more expensive and rarer the diamond.
To the untrained eye, diamonds look completely transparent. The truth is, many diamonds have impurities. They have traces of slightly yellow, gray, or brown inside. Using the right band color helps complement your diamond of choice.
Clarity

Diamond clarity isn’t easily observed unless a specialist analyzes it with special tools such as a 10x loupe and gem microscope. These essential tools enable specialists to analyze and grade diamonds and determine its clarity and flawlessness.
This critical step gives the correct grading and pricing guide. When appraising diamonds, be sure to work with a trusted specialist in the industry.
The Setting and Band

Jewelry craftsmen can create different ring settings, styles, and designs for oval-shaped diamonds. Their versatility keeps them one of the most popular and fashionable types of diamond rings.
Travis helped design Kourtney’s ring. He chose a solitaire diamond, with a pavé set on a thin platinum band, almost rendering this part invisible from a distance. Oval diamonds often have a halo foundation under it. Completing the ring were smaller diamonds on the pavé ring band.
How Much was the Ring?

Estate Diamond Jewelry’s resident jewelry specialist Benjamin Khardipour estimates that the engagement ring’s value range is from $900,000 to $1 million.
Kourtney also has a wedding ring designed by Lorraine Schwartz with a 1.40-carat diamond on a 3mm platinum band, valued at $12,500. Travis matched it with a 4mm platinum eternity band with 2-carat diamonds worth $17,500.
