Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly have been together since 2020. Two years into their relationship, MGK proposed to her on January 11, 2022. Machine Gun Kelly (real name Colson Baker) worked with British jewelry designer Stephen Webster to craft the unique ring. He was a fan of Webster’s previous collection of jewelry, which he created and designed, The Seven Deadly Sins.
MGK chose a “Toi et Moi” (you and me) design, which uses two different pear-shaped gems in one ring. Separable into two, it joins together in a singular ring. Megan Fox’s engagement ring is a fusion of two rings that are separable but one when worn. It’s a premium two-ring combination piece held by magnets, with matching birthstone gems: one in a D-color, antique-cut diamond for Kelly, and one in an untreated Colombian emerald for Fox.
Both elements form a heart and two-band ring, with pavé bands made of an 18-carat white gold ring and a thorn-motif shank with small diamonds around it. In turn, the collaboration inspired Webster for his next jewelry collections: Thorn Embrace and Thorn Addiction.
Details on the Gemstones
Megan’s one-of-a-kind, two rings in one stays united while wearing it, with an added feature. The thorn motifs in the shank are functional; Kelly says they can cause pain when removing the ring.
Megan Fox’s birthstone is emerald. They used an untreated 3-carat emerald, which is half of the 2-part, 7-carat diamond heart center it forms. There are no oils or other applications used on the emerald. Oil can enhance its outer shine but later cause visible marks, which lead to repeated cleaning and re-oiling. The second gemstone is a more than 3-carat D-color diamond, Kelly’s birthstone.
D color grades are the highest level, with the color as pure as a drop of water. Gemological labs such as the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) use industry standards to rate these color levels to determine their quality. The color range is in alphabetical format, from the highest, D, to the lowest, Z. They are rare and hard to source, making them expensive and always in demand.
The Final Cost

For the value of this special ring, we consulted Benjamin Khordipour, the trusted jewelry specialist at Estate Diamond Jewelry in New York City. He explains, “The engagement ring given by Colson Baker to Megan Fox showcases two gemstones with a combined approximate weight of 7 carats. A mere glance reveals the diamond’s collection-grade quality, which represents the most expensive type available.”
Khordipour added, “Regarding the emerald, it’s worth noting that over 99% of emeralds in the market undergo treatment. An untreated emerald is a rarity, and the few available are of extremely high value. Our evaluation places the worth of Megan Fox’s engagement ring at a minimum of $350,000 to $500,000.”
The Ring and the Proposal
Megan Fox and MGK became a couple after Fox separated from her ex-husband, Brian Austin Green, with whom she shares three children. In May 2020, Megan appeared in MGK’s “Bloody Valentine” video, playing the role of his girlfriend. It was a fast-forward vision of the future, as they became official a month after the video.
Three months before his proposal date, MGK approached Stephen Webster for the design and creation of the ring. It took him six weeks to design, source, plan, and create the custom piece. Kelly proposed to her over a year later with the special ring in Puerto Rico during their vacation. He knelt on one knee and first revealed the custom masterpiece ring to her and the world, earning that affirming “yes”. Both celebrities and the ring itself became the hottest news items online.

Another Webster creation is a close deadringer using the same configuration, with a diamond and emerald pair of stones. This Opposites Attract Rings is similar to the Megan Fox engagement ring, with an alternate combination ring form. Both rings have magnetic parts that join them together as one. It’s one of the closest recreations of the unique ring, but with the same graceful design and function. However, it is much more attainable with its lower price.

Another offering we have is this Entangled Band Ring from Stephen Webster’s Thorn Embrace collection. It features a 2.28-carat pear-shaped emerald in a diagonal position. The thorn motifs are in intertwined form in an 18k white gold pavé band adorned with white diamonds, each weighing 0.68 carats. It looks luxurious and captures the spirit of the original ring with a wider band. It is a good one-stone alternative that matches its classy look.

MGK’s designer collaborator, Stephen Webster, created inspired pieces with stylish variations, such as this Poles Apart Ring, from the Thorn Embrace collection. It has the same thorns and pear-shaped gems in the motifs. As its namesake says, the pear gemstones, one 2.04-carat purple spinel and a 1.80-carat grey spinel, face in opposing vertical positions, adding a unique, artsy configuration and an eye-catching design on the wearer’s finger. The 18k white gold ring has 0.21 carats of diamonds that surround its diameter for added side sparkles. This is a lavish-looking and stylish option with dual gems and similar designs without going over the budget.

This pear-shaped center ring variation of Megan Fox’s engagement ring from Cartier Solitaire 1895 is an elegant and simple piece. The 1895 an inverted pear-shaped (also known as teardrop) diamond center stone weighing from 2 to 4.99 carats. It sits on a Cartier Platinum 950/1000 band with the diamond slightly lower vertically when viewed on the side, providing an overhanging look on the front. These premium components spell luxury jewelry and carry the familiar styles of the MGK and Stephen Webster ring without the heavy final bill. Cartier also has other Solitaire offerings that feature variations of the ring.

We end this collection on a high note with an elegant thorn motif combination ring, the Forget Me Not Bandeaux Wrap Band Ring from Stephen Webster. Using the thorn and intertwined band designs on the Megan Fox engagement ring, it captures the same imagery, sans the pearl gems. This lovely ring features a wide band of crossed smaller bands in an 18-carat white gold band with white diamond pavé equal to 1.82 carats. There is no central gem, but the thorn-crossed composition and all-around white diamond pavé make it an elegant engagement ring from the same masterful designer.
