Adorable sweethearts Sarah Hyland and Wells Adams finally tied the knot on August 20, 2022. Making that wedding extra hot was Sarah Hyland’s wedding dress, or dresses, as she commissioned two knockout bridal fashion pieces for the special life event.
We give you the rundown on the hot dresses of Sarah’s most lovely day, and take a look back on how Sarah and Wells met and fell in love.
Sarah Hyland’s Wedding Dress: Hot Double Trouble
Yes, Sarah’s Hyland’s wedding dress was not just one, but two, and they are lovely commission pieces by top fashion designer Vera Wang.
For the wedding ceremony, Sarah wore a beautiful white gown with an off-the-shoulder, sleeveless top and sweetheart neckline bodice. It has a distinct inverted T formation on the bodice and beltline.
The dress further flows down the hot A-line skirt with a side cutaway and a lovely Cathedral train to die for. Its lovely Watteau train creates an extra layer of bridal beauty to the dress.
The Modern Family star’s second dress for the reception and after party was also a white, off-the-shoulder dress. This one has light and airy chiffon puff side sleeves and a sexy mermaid silhouette dress that flows down to a Chapel train.
These two different styles accompanied the mood and atmosphere of the solemn vows and the fun celebration of the reception after party.
Sarah and hubby Wells Adams had their wedding at the vineyards of the Sunstone Winery in Santa Ynez, California. It’s a lush and breathtaking outdoor vineyard venue
Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Sarah’s uncle on the hit TV series Modern Family, served as matrimony presider. Social media star Clara Robinson was the maid of honor, with DJ GG Magree and pop star Vanessa Hudgens as bridesmaids. Co-stars from her hit TV shows who attended included Sofia Vergara, Nolan Gould, and Julie Bowen.
Sarah’s Dress Designs and Inspirations
Sarah drew inspiration for her dress from the popular 19th-century London-era Netflix show Bridgerton. Her stylist, Brad Goreski, worked with her to create these tradition-based dresses with added modern touches.
Dresses from this show and its historical era provided her with glamorous, over-the-top period inspirations. Different Bridgerton dresses featured on the show highlighted sexy elements added to the traditional style dresses and gowns.
Sarah’s love for this Regencycore style shows in the sexy features of her wedding-day dresses. From off-the-shoulder tops and cutaway skirts to low backlines and curvy, form-fitting mermaid-silhouette dresses, they combine the best traits of older dresses with modern influences.
Sarah’s Haute Vera Wang ball gown was very traditional with a sweetheart bodice made of hand-pleated silk. The French tulle sleeves floated delicately just off of her bare shoulders. The bodice was also very fitted and boned, helping to support it.
The floor-length veil was completely hand-done and hung from her low bun by a comb. It trailed across her wedding dress train that trailed in a fan shape about four feet behind her. Her Jimmy Choo shoes were adorned with crystal trim and could be seen through the hip-high slit in her dress
How Sarah Met Wells
At first, Sarah was a big-time fan of Wells from his stint on The Bachelorette show. She tweeted about his dreamy future husband on X several times, which caught the attention of Adams.
Soon, they were chatting, and Wells invited her for tacos. They hit it off.
In a 2019 People TV interview, Hyland talked about their dating phase, “We like to joke when we first started dating, that we’re the same person, and I think [that] still rings true to this day. “We’re just so similar that it definitely felt like meeting a kindred soul from a past life.”
By October 29, 2017, the couple celebrated Halloween together. They also celebrated Adams’ 27th birthday almost a month later, going on a trip to Disneyland with their photos posted by Sarah on Instagram.
The couple ended their long-distance status in July 2018, when Adams made the major move from Nashville, Tennessee to LA. Then, on October 18, they celebrated their first year anniversary.
Sarah Gets Engaged to Wells
After over 9 months of living together, Wells proposed to Sarah on the weekend of the 4th of July 2019, while vacationing on a private island far off in Fiji.
The radio podcast DJ and Bachelor in Paradise star got down on one knee and surprised his love with an amazing oval cut diamond ring created by top jewelry designer Lorraine Schwartz. Sarah immediately said yes.
The couple kept the news under wraps except for friends and family, revealing the happy news on Instagram in July 16, 2019.
Pushed-Back Wedding Plans
Sarah and Wells were supposed to get married sometime the next year in August 9, 2020, but Covid’s arrival disrupted their plans.
Hyland was on The Bachelor: The Greatest Seasons — Ever! that same year, and she stated, “No plans as of right now. We’ve put all planning on hold. All of my family is mostly on the East Coast, so for them to fly out … and just ages, and of course, with my health risks, we want to be as safe as possible.”
The lovely couple still celebrated their original planned wedding date by being together in a vineyard, taking adorable photos, and drinking wine. Almost two months later, they celebrated their third year anniversary on October 21, by voting, then having an intimate dinner and exchanging gifts.
However, their next year’s plans to reset their marriage also didn’t go through.
Adams had an interview with People where he said, “We were supposed to get married obviously last year, that didn’t happen. We were supposed to get married this year, but that didn’t happen. So now we are hoping next year, or we’re gonna go to Vegas, or the courthouse, I don’t know — well, we’re not going to do those last two things, but I don’t know. 2022 has got to be our year, right?!”
That same year, they celebrated their fourth anniversary.
By 2022, plans were looking good for their rescheduled wedding. Sarah held a bridal shower on June 5, 2022, and a three-year engagement anniversary on July 5.
That three-year spell ended on August 20, 2022, when their dream wedding finally went through.
