Torrey DeVitto’s Engagement Ring and Proposal Details
Jared proposed to Torrey on Friday, September 1, going towards Labor Day weekend. They were out on a leisurely stroll on her Michigan farm when he got down on one knee and promised forever love. She was in her PJs and goat boots when she said yes to the stunning engagement ring.
The couple shared pictures of her lovely engagement ring on September 25th. It featured a 5-carat, radiant cut rectangular solitaire diamond in a north-south setting, secured in 4 prongs on a gold band.
“Earlier this month at 5 p.m. on a weekday while walking the back trails at the farm, still in my PJs and goat boots, he got down on one knee, in what I hoped wasn’t poison ivy, and asked for forever. My answer was obvious. ❤️🔒,”
Jared, who is originally from Kalamazoo, Michigan, posted his own sweet dedication to the love of his life, captioning his Instagram post, “On September 1st, I got engaged to my best friend. Now I get to spend every single day as the luckiest man in the world. I love you more than anything and everything @torreydevitto 🥂 💍 ❤️”
How Much is Torrey DeVitto’s Engagement Ring?
Torrey’s engagement ring showcases a sizable radiant-cut gem placed in a solitary setting, secured by prongs on a simple yellow gold band.
Our discussion over the phone with the Gemological Institute of America-certified jewelry specialist Benjamin Khordipour G.D., from NYC’s Estate Diamond Jewelry, touched upon the specs and properties of this amazing ring. He placed its value at $280,000.
He further explained the high-quality and complicated radiant-cut diamond on Torrey’s ring.
This rectangular cut with cropped corners often resembles emerald-cut stones. Many people often mistake radiant-cut stones for emerald-cut ones.
Radiant cut stones have the same brilliance as round-cut stones. It has 70 facets that can easily make the stone eye-clean, hiding impurities or inclusions well. The larger surface of radiant-cut diamonds makes them look more valuable than their carat value.
Torrey and Jared’s Love Story
Our lovely sweethearts met through their inner circle. More specifically, Torrey’s cousin, Alexandra Ferenc, had Jared in mind when she referred him to her.
Jared just moved back to Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was welcome to the change it can bring from the hectic Hollywood environment he lived in.
Torrey’s life was already steeped in the entertainment and music industry since childhood, but was a local that can make Jared’s return more than welcome.
Jared made an impression on Alexandra the few times she met and hung out with him (she was a bartender in college). He became a direct referral to her in 2023.
Speaking with The New York Times, she recalls, “I remembered him because there was something about him. He seemed like a genuinely nice guy, and he always had a good reputation. I said, ‘Hey, Jared, are you single?’”
Alexandra sent him her profile, but only learned then on that she was an actress and model. Jared liked her from the get-go. “First, I saw her picture, and I said, ‘Yes, absolutely, I’ll gladly meet up with this person. I told Alex I think she sent me the wrong profile. I thought I was being catfished.”
The couple went on a date, and they fell in love fast. They had a lot in common and felt comfortable with each other. They went public in June 2023. Then, he proposed in September.
Sg gushed, saying, “Jared has the best personality. He’s a family guy, and he’s also one of the most nostalgic, sentimental guys. I’ve never felt so safe in a relationship. It was perfect. I knew after that first date I didn’t have any interest in seeing anyone else.”
Happily Married!
The couple married on September 14, 2024, at the Inisfree Estate in South Michigan. Alexandra was a Universal Life Church minister by then and officiated their wedding.
Chicago Med star Torrey was also pregnant, about two months away from welcoming their daughter, Lyle-Josephine, born on November 21, 2024.
The Inisfree Estate became a beautiful garden full of rustic charm and natural grace, the perfect backdrop for the couple’s dream wedding. All bridesmaids wore color-coordinated but individually styled V Chapman dresses, while groomsmen wore emerald green suits, the same as Jared’s. Torrey was lovely in her long-sleeved, closed-neck lace Pierlot gown, a Grace Loves Lace creation.
More About the Couple
Torrey grew up surrounded by music. Her dad, Liberty Devitto, was Billy Joel’s longest-standing drummer and also worked with Paul McCartney, Carly Simon, Phoebe Snow, Karen Carpenter, Stevie Nicks, Rick Wakeman, Bob James, and Meat Loaf. She recalled growing up with Billy’s daughter, Alexa.
Her mom is best friends with Stevie Nicks. Her parents met when her dad was Stevie’s drummer on the 1983 Wild Heart Tour.
Torrey’s musical environment led her to play the violin at an early age. She played in the local high school orchestra, the Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra, and the Florida Youth Artist Orchestra.
Torrey played violin with the Tommy Davidson Band and on the Raphael Saadiq album, Ray Ray, in 2004. She also played in Stevie Nicks’ 2011 album In Your Dreams.
Later, she took acting classes and developed her interest and skills in the art. She also became a model when she turned 15.
Torrey starred in Dawson’s Creek, Scrubs, Castle, The King of Queens, CSI: Miami, Drake & Josh, Beautiful People, One Tree Hill, The Vampire Diaries, Chicago Med, and Pretty Little Liars.
Jared started in Hollywood as a production assistant on Disney’s K.C. Undercover starring Zendaya, Kirby Buckets, Scream at the Devil, I Didn’t Do It, and several other Hollywood productions.
He’s also the director for the short films Welcome Home, The One That Likes You, and The One That Rolled Away. After working in Hollywood, he came back to Michigan and continued working in their family-run business, the HVAC and mechanical contracting company, R.W. LaPine, which his great-grandfather started in 1944.
