1. Ruffled Cakes (Wedding Dress-Style)

Ruffled wedding cakes are the visual motif extension of the wedding dress. It can even have the bride’s dress design and form, with the ruffled layers incorporated into the design.
There are different cake and fondant combinations available, depending on your cake provider and designer. Usually made of frosting or fondant, with choices of chocolate, vanilla, or other custom cakes inside. They are best kept in a fridge and taken out during the cake-cutting time only.
Like a gift unboxing during the cake cutting ceremony, they pair great with white wines, champagnes, and light sparkling alcoholic drinks. The elegant and simple all-white purity recreates the lovely dress motifs with luxurious textures.
2. Minimalist Cakes

Minimalist cakes do away with complicated themes and deep meanings, and instead create very clean and simple designs. It uses the concept of simple elegance and iconic looks.
The cake structure can follow the traditional 3-layered centerpiece cake. It can also use minimalist but unconventional or unusual shapes, set in minimal art design. Its inside cake, though, is a different story. You can get creative and use anything from rainbow layers to crumbles to dark chocolate.
Often, you can include unconventional shapes, layouts, decorations, and motifs that are over-the-top but simple. These cakes focus on the few major features instead of many details and features to the brim.
3. Ombre Colored Cake

Ombre wedding cakes use fade-in and out, gradient-style colors. You can often see this color style in simple cake shapes and designs. Other cake styles use this color style in combination with other cake styles, textures, and patterns.
This cake style is almost the same as a minimalist cake, but with a multi-color theme. You can use this color variation on simple or complicated cakes and take it to another stylistic level. You can use 2 to 3 colors like a Photoshop gradient square, matching your wedding colors and themes.
4. Boho-Styled Cake

Making a comeback for wedding cake trends in 2026: Boho wedding cakes are lavish, colorful, decadent, and have an earthen influence. Many earthen, organic, and hippie themes and motifs mix and match in this style. You will see earthy colors, flowers, leaves, and flowing curved patterns as seen in Boho fashion, dresses, and accessories.
As seen in this photo, a plain white cake looks good adorned with cascading flowers and greens with lovely cake patterns and backgrounds in white. The pink, purple, and light blue palettes match green, dark green, and earth colors. Splendid, dainty, and lovely.
5. Geometrical Cakes

Art-piece-looking geometrically designed cakes are another cool, happening option for designer-bent and artsy couples. These cakes break tradition with different, brave new designs for wedding cake trends in 2026.

7. Vintage Pipe-Styled Wedding Cakes
Vintage-piped wedding cakes use old-school piping decoration methods. It consists of cool, wavy piped frosting decorations over traditional 3 to 4-layered centerpiece cakes. It has that classic US wedding and birthday cake piping style and look, using Lambeth-style layers of design and wedding dress-influenced ruffles, textures, and lace patterns.
