Zooey Deschanel’s Engagement Ring and Jonathan Scott’s Adorable Proposal
Zooey and Jonathan’s engagement is forever written in their mind and was super epic. The couple and their family were on vacation in Edinburgh, Scotland, and Jonathan had the most adorable proposal set up for Zooey Deschanel’s engagement ring in Edinburgh Castle.
Jonathan’s family emigrated from Scotland to Canada when he was a teenager. This proposal also had a special, full-circle meaning for him.
He hired a Scottish pipe band to play during the big moment, and as they were listening to them mesmerized, a guitarist joined the band and played their favorite song, Neil Young’s “Harvest Moon”.
Their children, Elsie and Charlie, pulled up a banner that said: “Will You Marry Me?”
Jonathan then got down on one knee to make his magical and ultra-romantic proposal and presented her with an exquisite pink and purple floral motif custom ring on an 18k white gold band.
It’s a one-of-a-kind creation from jewelry company Van Cleef & Arpels’ “Folie des Prés” collection. The ring perfectly captures Zooey’s love for romantic, artsy, timeless, and super elegant aesthetics.
Jonathan also set up hidden cameras to capture the lovely moment. They celebrated their engagement in a joint Instagram post, captioned with “Forever starts now.”
Zoeey’s ring features 3 floral stone arrangements. The center floral motif has purple sapphires with a diamond center, cradled with prongs. Two floral motifs flank it on each side, featuring white diamonds with a pink sapphire on each of their sides.

Their Cute Meeting and Love Story
Zooey met Jonathan while filming a fun “Carpool Karaoke” segment on The Late Late Show with James Corden in August 2019. Zooey and her sister Emily squared off against Jonathan and his twin brother Drew.
There was an instant connection between the two, and they hit it off. There may have been unconscious, playful flirting too.
When his brother Drew and wife Linda interviewed them on their podcast, At Home with Linda & Drew Scott in 2020, Jonathan said, “I thought I was playing it cool. I didn’t think anything of it. The producer said I was flirting so bad, so hard, they had to cut a bunch of that out.”
Soon, the press and paparazzi started seeing the lovely duo together. This might have raised a few eyebrows as well since she wasn’t fully divorced yet from her soon-to-be ex, Jacob Pechenik.
The twosome had their first date by playing an escape room. Soon, she announced her divorce from her ex in September 2019. Sources confirmed that she and her ex had already separated months prior to dating Jonathan.
Not long after, the press spotted them holding hands in public while they were having a walk. The two hard-launched their relationship on Instagram on October 20, 2019. They went on a double date with Jonathan’s brother and his wife, Linda, in Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights.
They also had their first red carpet debut together on November 10, 2019, at the Critics’ Choice Documentary Awards.
When the pandemic started, they quarantined together in April 2020. In June, Zooey and Jacob’s divorce was finalized.
The couple bought a 5-bedroom home together, naming it their “forever home.”

Jonathan’s brother is a real estate specialist who scouts for and negotiates purchases of old or abandoned houses. He then renovates them. They transform fixer-upper houses for families into beautiful dream homes.
