The professional surfer, Tia Blanco, is engaged to The Hills star Brody Jenner. In January, they announced on Instagram that they were expecting a baby. And five months later, at the couple’s baby shower, Brody surprised Tia by getting down on one knee and proposing.
Here we’ll explain how these lovebirds got together and take a closer look at Tia’s extravagant ring.
Who Are Tia and Brody?
In case you didn’t know, here’s some interesting information about the couple.
Tia is a professional surfer from San Clemente, California. Born in Puerto Rica, she has an estimated net worth of $5 million, primarily due to her surfing prowess. Among her many surfing accolades, she won a gold medal at the International Surfing Association (ISA) Open Women’s World Surfing Championship 2015. She’s also on the American surfing team. Tia’s a natural footer, meaning she surfs with her right foot forward. Aside from surfing, Tia is vegan, an entrepreneur, and a model. She’s appeared in commercials for Spark and Beyond Meat and has a skincare line called Dear Self. Tia made her TV debut in The Challenge: Champs vs. Stars in 2017. Four years later, she won the title on The Ultimate Surfer.
Brody, whose net worth is $10 million, has a famous family we’re sure everyone knows. He’s Caitlyn Jenner’s son and a half-sibling to the Kardashians. Brody’s modeled for Cosmogirl, Agent Provocateur, and Guess clothing. He also featured in the ever-popular Keeping Up With The Kardashians and appeared in The Hills for six seasons. In 2009, he hosted another reality show called Bromance, where men competed to be part of his entourage. He’s received nominations from Teen Choice Awards for his roles in both shows.
Breezy Beginnings
Although the couple never confirmed this, TMZ reported that they were dating in May 2022. They met when Brody was in Hawaii for a family vacation. In June 2022, Tia and Brody became ‘Instagram Official’ when they confirmed their relationship with a post on the platform. Brody added a photo with Tia to his Instagram Story and a video of them biking down a winding road with Isn’t She Lovely by Stevie Wonder playing in the background. Before this, many suspected they were dating when they posted similar waterfall pics in Hawaii. One month later, they were spotted together at a market in California.
Tia and Brody announced her pregnancy with a joint Instagram post of a video from their medical checkup, in which they got a sonogram and heard their baby’s heart beat.
Tia was blown away by the proposal and captioned her post: “Still feel like I am dreaming, please don’t pinch me!!! Yesterday was the most beautiful baby shower that ended with a proposal from the man of my dreams. It was so special to share these moments with the people we love so much. I know baby girl felt all the love in there!!! Big thank you to the hostess with the moistest @ltlindathompson for putting together such a lovely ‘tiara & teacups’ shower for us. I can’t wait to marry you.”
But Did Brody ‘Make It Rain’ for Tia’s Ring?
Yes, he did! Tia’s finger glam is estimated to be worth around $75k. It has a sleek and rectangular design, with a three-carat emerald cut stone placed in a shoulder setting that adds extra sparkle to each side of the diamond.
Could an Emerald-Cut Diamond Be for You?
Emerald-cut diamond engagement rings have grown in popularity. These sophisticated diamond rings look modern but historically date back centuries. Around the 1500s, this shape was used by stone cutters on emeralds because it lessened the pressure when the stone was being cut, thereby ensuring fewer chips in the stone. As jewelers and diamond cutters found that this cut added more sparkle to diamonds, the emerald cut grew in popularity.
Why Go Emerald?
Are you still on the fence about this particular cut of diamond? Here are some great benefits of choosing an Emerald cut diamond for your engagement ring:
- The emerald cut makes a stone look much larger than it is due to the bigger surface area. A typical 1-carat stone can have 5% more surface area with an emerald cut rather than a round cut.
- If your fingers look short, the emerald-cut diamond makes them look much longer. This is due to its elongated shape, which draws the eye to the finger’s length, making it look longer and slender.
- Emerald-cut diamond rings are unique and rare and make for an excellent investment.
